But it turned out to be exactly what I was supposed to do.
The mortgage industry had always caught my attention, but the timing never felt right to make the switch. Before lending, I spent years in senior leadership in the hotel industry, where I developed dynamic pricing strategies based on demand and seasonality, created and optimized forecasting models, built out processes and training procedures, led strategy calls, and managed over 100 hotel-facing team members. I helped grow the number one revenue-producing hotel brand in the country. I was good at it, but I knew there was something bigger for me.
Then COVID hit. I was furloughed, and I had a decision to make. Wait for the callback, or bet on myself. I bet on myself.
I started at New American Funding in a call center and closed 109 loans in my first year, becoming the number one producer on my team. I made the Scotsman Guide Top 1% of originators. Not because I was the best salesman in the room, but because I was coaching people, explaining things, answering the phone, and being straight with them even when it wasn't what they wanted to hear. That's still how I operate today.
I run Colt Lending under Edge Home Finance, LLC as a wholesale broker, which means I'm not tied to one bank's products. I have access to over 100 lenders to find the best rates and loan programs for your goals. The name Colt comes from my son's middle name. This business isn't just a brand to me, it's personal.

I live in Texas with my wife and our three kids. When I'm not working, I'm chasing them around and trying to keep up with their lives, whether it's fishing, jiu-jitsu, dance, sports, or whatever they want to try next. At the end of the day, I'm just trying to be a better husband and father than I was yesterday.
